Stepping out into the world as your true gender for the first time can be the most terrifying thing that you have ever done. Not to mention what it is like coming out to your family, friends, and co-workers.

Transition is such a selfish process, with the majority of our day to day focus on trying to fit in to society as the opposite gender all of the time worrying, how the rest of the world perceives uIMG_9453s.

The early days of transition are probable the most difficult time that a transgender person has to deal with, as we integrate ourselves into society. When we are raised as a child, we pick up the social queues and knowledge to allow us to blend into society, filling society’s expectations by the time we become adults. From the moment that gun goes off signaling the start of our transition we have a very short period of time to re learn our social role in our true gender. Although we have most probable had a considerable length of time to consider what we are about to undertake.

Our cisgender partners, in most cases are never given the opportunity to contemplate the transition they will have to undergo when their partner has to start their transition to the opposite gender.

With Kerry’s help we start to understand that our partners go through  transitioning just as we go through transition.
