Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen. Request.

The Things that Dreams are Made of by Human League. From 1981’s Dare!, their third album.

Somewhere over the Rainbow by Patti LaBelle. Live. Request.

Queen of Eyes by Soft Boys. From their 1980 album, Underwater Moonlight, their second. They were English and active as Soft Boys on and off from 1976-2003, though their leader, Robyn Hitchcock, certainly did other things during that time as well.

Through the eyes of Julie by Van Gogh’s Daughter. San Francisco lesbian band Van Gogh’s Daughter with their left-of-the-dial hit Through the Eyes of Julie, from 1995. From their debut and I think only album, Shove.

Do Me Baby by Meli’sa Morgan. Request.

Say No Go by De La Soul. Request.

Colored Lights by The Blasters. Track written by John Mellencamp for this band’s second album, Hard Line, released in 1985. They formed in 1979 in Downey, California, by brothers Phil Alvin and Dave Alvin, with bass guitarist John Bazz and drummer Bill Bateman.

Tesla Girls by OMD – 1984 release that didn’t do very well due to furore over the blatant sexism of the video. I was lucky enough to see the band in late 1986 or early 1987 and it was a terrific uni campus show. 2 of my friends missed the show when 1 of them was knocked out by an ice hockey puck.

Bimbo by Yello. First track on their debut album from 1980, Solid Pleasure. They are Swiss – can you name another Swiss band? Nope, me neither.

Radio Ga Ga by Queen. Request.

P.Y.T. by Michael Jackson. Request.

Aussies – P

*Raised on Rock by Doug Parkinson. 1975 single after he’d had a successful career thru the 60s and early 70s in Doug Parkinson In Focus and Vince Melouney’s post-Bee Gees supergroup Fanny Adams, which recorded one album and broke up. He then embarked on a solo career.

*Hold Your Head Up by Party Boys. Cover of this Argent classic from 1972. It appears on the Boys’ only album, a self-titled affair from 1987.

*Brer Rabbit by Plays with Marionettes. 1982 track from this Melbourne-based band that was active from 1979 till 84. They were Hugo Race, Robin Casinader and Brian McMahon.

*Spent by Pray TV. 1990 single from this Melbourne indie band. They released 4 CD albums, several 7″ vinyl singles and a 12″ vinyl EP between 1987 and 1997.

*Too Much Acid by Pineapples from the Dawn of Time. Brisbane band featuring Michael Gilmore on vocals, Clem Lukey on guitar/vocals, Rod McLeod on bass and teeth and Peter Kroll on lead guitar. This is half of their first release, a double A-sided single with Saha.

*Joy by Toni Pearen. 1995 single from her 1994 album, Intimate. I believe it was her last single before moving to LA. She got her start on an Aussie soap, E Street, and also did a stint on Home and Away.

Always by Erasure. Request.

Daytime Drama by Billy Idol. From Rebel Yell, released in 1983. It was his second.

Trouble Me by 10,000 Maniacs. From their 1993 MTV unplugged album.

Don’t Rescue Me by Devo. From their 1984 album, Shout, their sixth with Warner Brothers. Warner dropped them soon after due to the relative failure of the album. Their next 2 albums were released by Enigma…and then in 2010 they released yet another Warner Bros album, their 9th. The classic line-up of the band included two sets of brothers, the Mothersbaughs (Mark and Bob) and the Casales (Gerald and Bob), along with Alan Myers.

I Travel by Simple Minds. From their 1980 album, Empires and Dance, their third.
