Triple X Show 356 – 17/12/17 – The ABBA show Interview!/LGBTI Themed Aussie 6 Pack/Yacht Rock/ & More

Show 356

Sailing by Christopher Cross. From his 1979 self-titled debut. Yacht rock leftover…the first of many tonight.

The Abba Show interview! Hannah Pocock and Jenna Ball from The Abba Show.

Thank you for the music by The Abba Show Cast.

Gimme Gimme Gimme by Abba. Request.

Rock Me by Abba. Request.

A Girl Like You by The Smithereens. Pat DiNizio, the lead singer and songwriter of the New Jersey rock group the Smithereens, died Tuesday at the age of 62. No cause of death has been announced.

Imaginary Lover by Atlanta Rhythm Section. 1978 track that even charted here (49) where yacht rock wasn’t the ‘thing’ the way it was in the US. Interesting that mainstream Americans probably know more Aussie yacht rock than pub rock…

Aussies – LGBTI

*+You and Me (We wanted it all) by Peter Allen. His final single release, from 1984.

*+Supply and Demand by Robyn Archer. From her 1984 album, Robyn Archer Sings Brecht, vol. 2.

*+Inside my Kitchen by Tiddas. Title track from their 1992 EP. Featuring lesbian artist Lou Bennett.

*+Go for the Heart by Sox. Featuring lesbians Chris Bonacci and Samantha Fox. They seem to have only put out this one single, in 1995.

*+Brave New World by Jimmy and the Boys. 1981 single featuring Ignagius Jones as their gay frontman. The album was Teddy Boys Picnic, also 1981.

*+First Day of Summer by Sea Stories. Featuring TripleX’s good friend Robyn on drums! This is from 1991.

Don’t Wait for Monday by Corduroy. Request. Acid Jazz from 1992.

Widescreen by Barbra Streisand. From her 1975 album, Lazy Afternoon. Doesn’t appear on many Yacht Rock lists…but again, few women!

We just Disagree by Dave Mason. His biggest solo hit, from 1977. He’s English and was with the band Traffic…in addition to recording with EVERYBODY: Paul McCartney, George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Steve Winwood, Fleetwood Mac, and Cass Elliot.

Key Largo by Bertie Higgins. #75 on VH1’s Greatest One-Hit Wonders of the 80s.. It’s from 1982 and references the Bogart-Bacall film of the same name.

Do the Right Thing by Redhead Kingpin & the FBI. Their 1989 debut. It written for but not used in the Spike Lee film of the same name, but two years later the song was featured on the soundtrack of Wes Craven’s horror film The People Under the Stairs.,[1] playing over the end credits.

Jealousy by Club Nouveau. Their 1986 debut single – charted only in the UK and only at 80. They were from Sacramento.

The Things we do for Love by 10cc. 1976 Gold record (in the US) for this prolific British group. I can’t believe these are the same guys who brought us Dreadlock Holiday!!

Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc. 1978…how on earth is this the same band?!!
