Episode 2 – Vaccines and Other Medication

Many LGBTQIA+ people are on medications. From Hormone Therapy to PReP and HIV Medication.

And many queer people have hesitations around how those medications may interact with the vaccine.

Today’s episode is all about vaccines and their interaction with other medications.

Up first, Ruby Mountford will be chatting to Dr Ada Cheung – Dr Ada is an endocrinologist who specialises in supporting trans and gender diverse people.

Ruby and Dr Ada chat about the hesitations many LGBTQIA+ people feel around how their medications may interact with other medicine, including the vaccine. They also chat about the risks of blood clots from both the vaccine and other medications, such as the contraception pill.

And later, Sunanda will be chatting to Elle Void – Elle is the Trans and Gender Diverse Peer Navigator at Your Community Health. Elle is a trans woman who received the Astrazeneca vaccine. She opens up about her experience in the healthcare system as well as the hesitations she felt around getting the vaccine and how it may interact with the medication she is on.
