LGBT Asia Update – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

We’ve brought you stories about raids on gay clubs, caning of gay men, Pride events, lesbian dating apps being shut down and court rulings in favour of same-sex marriage.  And that’s all just in the past 3 months. Welcome to the good, the bad and the ugly of LGBT rights in Asia.

  • What is behind the upswing in persecution of gay men in places like Indonesia and Malaysia?
  • What role does the international community play in effecting positive change?
  • Who will be the first country in Asia to achieve marriage equality?

Bringing her immense knowledge of LGBTI rights across the Asia-Pacific region, we were joined in the studio by Dr Paula Gerber from Kaleidoscope Australia Human Rights Foundation (www.kaleidoscopeaustralia.com).

World Wide Waves aims to promote awareness of international LGBT issues. Our program provides in-depth analysis and interviews. We focus on the challenges facing the global LGBT community as well as some of our successes.

We take pride in interviewing a wide range of international LGBT people and supporters including politicians, activists, academics, parents, authors, students, professionals and more.
