PHILIPPINES: STANDING UP FOR TRANS RIGHTS

It’s known as one of the most accepting countries in Asia for LGBTI people. On the surface this may be the case but is acceptance shared equally amongst all parts of the LGBTIQ-community.  Tonight we are off to The Philippines.

  • What is life like for a Trans person living in The Philippines?
  • How do you maintain the rage when change is so slow?
  • What is the recent Parliamentary ruling that gives hope to the LGBTI community?

To share her story and passion for the LGBTI community, we were joined by Naomi Fontanos from GANDA Filipinas (www.facebook.com/gandafilipinasand also Rachel Cook from Thorne Harbour Health (https://thorneharbour.org) – the new name for the Victorian AIDS Council – who are hosting a LGBTIQ Women’s Health Conference in Melbourne.
