South East Asia: Advancing the Rights of LGBTIQ People

Anthony LangloisWith news from Thailand that marriage equality could shortly be a reality, you might think there is cause for hope for rainbow rights in the region. But with anti-gay sentiment sweeping Indonesia and Brunei labelled the most unsafe country in the world for queer people, it is clear that LGBTQIA rights in South East Asia are a complex web.

But some recent regional reforms might help local activists to advocate for changes in their country. Anthony Langlois an Associate Professor in International Relations at Flinders University. Anthony is an expert in queer rights in the region and joined us to give an update on South East Asia.
