Some songwriters have a yen for writing songs about villains and about people languishing in prisons. In this week’s program we have a serial killer (‘Mack The Knife’ by Bobby Darin), a geriatric criminal (‘Ma Baker’ by Boney M) and a female killer (‘Dark Lady’ by Cher). Add to these a couple of songs about cowboy villains (‘Bad Man’ by Col Joye and ‘The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance’ by Gene Pitney. The Aussie highlight is the theme from the Australian TV series ‘Prisoner’ – ‘On The Inside’ by Lynne Hamilton.

  • The Night Chicago Died – Paper Lace
  • Bad Man – Col Joye
  • Jailbreak – AC/DC
  • On The Inside – Lynne Hamilton
  • Dark Lady – Cher
  • Mack The Knife – Bobby Darin
  • Ma Baker – Boney M
  • The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance – Gene Pitney
  • Green Green Grass Of Home – Tom Jones
  • The Scene Of The Crime – Dinah Shore
  • I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You – Bee Gees
