Sing it Back on Neon Nights show # 588 as John von Ahlen / Parralox & Costa Lakoumentas interviewed the incomparable Róisín Murphy back in 2020.
What is there to say about Róisín? Visionary, Amazing, Exhibitionist? Our thesaurus just isn’t large enough…

As the frontwoman and one half of UK-based, alternative dance-pop duo Moloko, Murphy celebrated a successful career throughout the 90s with mixer/producer Mark Brydon and their unique electronic partnership. Across their four studio albums the duo had a number of hit singles including ‘Sing It Back’, ‘The Time Is Now’, ‘Pure Pleasure Seeker’ and ‘Indigo’. Merging their sassy, eccentric and unconventional brand of electronic music, the band became known as one of the most iconic dance acts of the era.

Since launching her solo career following the disbandment of Moloko in 2002, Murphy has revealed her wonderfully idiosyncratic music, fashion and performance sensibilities. Across her four solo studio albums, Ruby Blue, Overpowered, Hairless Toys and Take Her Up To Monto she has received widespread critical acclaim including nominations for the Mercury Music Prize and Ireland’s Choice Music Prize. She has also released a host of hit singles including ‘Overpowered’, ‘Ramalama (Bang Bang)’, ‘Dear Miami’, ‘You Know Me Better’ and has collaborated with a number of musical influences including Matthew Herbert, Maurice Fulton and DJ Koze.

Transcending the barriers of genre by merging classic pop hooks, electronic, house and disco, Murphy continues to provide fans with captivating tracks including recent one-off single ‘Incapable’ (out now through Skint Records). Produced by long-time collaborator DJ Parrot aka Crooked Man, the new single is a shimmering, shuffling, club ready house track that has been met by universal acclaim.

Following a successful year in 2018 in which Murphy released a series of four 12” singles produced by Maurice Fulton and directed a series of companion videos for ‘All My Dreams’, ‘Plaything’, ‘Jacuzzi Rollercoaster’ and ‘The Rumble’, 2019 saw the re-release of 2007 record Overpowered.

Join us as we chat with Roisin about her single “Narcissus” plus her time in Moloko… and a bazzlion other things.

For 10 years they travelled the world, playing everything from dancehalls, theatres, nightclubs, festivals (in front of 60,000 + people) & arenas.
Currently securing two residencies in NYC’s cool East Village, we chat to Sammy Jo and assume the position as he prepares for a 1 hour non stop Neon Nights takeover.

John von Ahlen interviews Stonebridge! We are showing you Love for Love with our classic Stonebridge Interview on Neon Nights show # 215 presented by John von AhlenParralox & Costa Lakoumentas.

Since tapping into the musical mainstream with his remix work for artists such as Madonna, Borgeous, Sia, Jason Derulo, Icona Pop, Taio Cruz and Ne-Yo, Grammy Award nominated artist, producer and DJ Stone Bridge has not slowed down. Stone Bridge has taken his unique brand of sexy, groove-ladled house to crowds throughout the world. His DJ travels have encompassed top bill performances at stages from Australia’s Future Music Festival, Silent Sun(sets) and Wet Electric to Womb in Tokyo, while being a regular guest at clubs like London’s Ministry of Sound, San Francisco’s Ruby Skye and Bleu in Detroit.
In his early days, Stone Bridge created Sweden’s first DJ/Remix company, SweMix. He turned a basement operation into a hugely successful record label and brand and as part of this, Stone Bridge was responsible for worldwide hits like Robin S ‘Show Me Love’ (Stone Bridge Mix) and later earning his GRAMMY Nomination with Ne-Yo ‘Closer’ (Stone Bridge Club Mix). In 2012 StoneBridge received a BMI Songwriter of the year award as co-writer of Jason Derulo‘s ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’, which uses Stone Bridge’s iconic ‘Show Me Love’ bass line.
His prolific musical output has led to three studio albums. Stone Bridge’s debut LP came in 2004 with the arrival of ‘Can’t Get Enough‘, which garnered international acclaim among clubbers and the world’s music press. The album went on to sell over 60.000 copies and spawned undoubtedly two of his biggest singles to date; ‘Put ‘Em High‘ and ‘Take Me Away‘, which both scored UK Top 10 chart positions. He then returned to the studio to complete the next album, ‘Music Takes Me‘, which featured massive hits like ‘SOS’, ‘You Don’t Know’ and ‘Close To Heaven’.

Stone Bridge’s new single ‘Believe It’ is following the success if his three recent hit singles; ‘Losing Control‘ (Stone Bridge & Amie M, 2015), a UK and Sweden Top 20 Club Chart hit, the GRAMMY considered ‘Be Kind‘ (Stone Bridge & Crystal Waters, 2014) and ‘You Can Have It All‘ (Stone Bridge, Luv Gunz & Koko LaRoo, 2014) that has streamed half a million on Spotify to date, all supported by top DJs and radio stations worldwide.

John von Ahlen interviews Stonebridge! We are showing you Love for Love with our classic Stonebridge Interview on Neon Nights show # 215 – presented by John von AhlenParralox & Costa Lakoumentas.
