Time for a pep talk, well, a PEP talk that is. We are joined by queer content creator Odus Moore to share a little about self advocating in healthcare settings as an LGBTIQ+ person. Recently, Odus needed to access PEP – medication to prevent HIV after a recent exposure – and was met with some perceived queer phobia and didn’t walk away with the medication they needed.

PEP can be taken to prevent HIV after a recent exposure – but needs to be taken within 72 hours. And, the earlier the better.

Odus shares what happened when they visited a public hospital and had a negative experience, which they turned into a training and capacity building experience for clinicians at the hospital – but not before being bullied and gaslit online!

Plus, we chat about mpox and preventing it by getting vaccinated!

We were so chuffed to be the recipients of the 2023 Addam Stobbs Award for Broadcasting Excellence at the JOY AGM!

Addam was a longtime presenter of Allegro Non Troppo at JOY until his passing in 2010 and this award is named for him.

At a time when our community is attacked, called groomers and pedophiles by hate commentators simply for daring to be their authentic selves- it’s truly an honour for us to be able to have the trust of JOY to present a show on broadcast radio about queer sex. Our sex lives form an important part of our lives, and queer pleasure is something we’ll fight tooth and nail to celebrate. So, thank you to the entire team at JOY for acknowledging us this year. Most imortantly, thank you to all our amazing guests who have candidly shared their thoughts and often intimate personal experiences of sex.
