When punk was just beginning, Siobhan Fahey was already obsessed with music and after a fairytale kind of beginning found great success (and honed her lyric writing skills) in Bananarama from 1979 to 1987.
She broke away to explore her own sound and created the ever-evolving outfit of Shakespears Sister, named after a Smiths song. Inspired by poets, Patti Smith, Marc Bolan and Sly and the Family Stone, she explored gothic glam pop in the 90’s and enjoyed further success and motherhood.
After some DJing underground she later embraced Electro, inspiring her to eventually make her own style of sneering, sharp, dirty Electroclash in the 00s and beyond.
This is Vol.I of our Siobhan Fahey/ Shakepeares Sister episode- the Director’s Cut, focusing on the Electro-glam rock Siobhan has created. Coming soon is Vol.II with her more pensive and alternative material.
Intro: Jane Birkin etc. Special Bonus outro track: ‘Cold’ (Siobhan Fahey).
