Welcome to A TOUCH OF PINK. More of those bizarre little pop trash gems, the type that get under your skin and itch, but a in a good way.

This week we particularly like are Smokey Joe, I Am A Camera, Royksopp, ETML, and Vicci Martinez. But we really love them all … we think of them as our children that we’re letting loose on you.

Our TRACK OF THE WEEK is “Grace” by UK gay BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT. It’s a sweet little song, and the man behind the name is rather cute. There is a lovely video to promote the release. See below.

WHAT HAVE WE SEEN LATELY ?

SHOW : SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE : At last I have gotten to see the Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical/opera. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. The first half brought to life characters in the George Seurat painting “A Sunday On The Island Of La Grande Jatte”, including the affair between the painter and his model/muse. The second half took the action ahead to current day when a baby in the picture is now a grandmother with a secret. It was a beautiful score, with some amazing tunes, as you’d expect, plus a very engaging cast. If you’re after something a little more weighty than a comic musical, but not as heavy as grand opera, then this is it. Wonderful.

SHOW : CAVALIA : Wasn’t sure what to expect, but as it has links to Cirque Du Soleil we thought we’d give it a go. This turned out to be one of the highlights of the year. Imagine Merlin and the Lord of the Rings meets Cirque Du Soleil with horses, then you have some idea where we’re going. It had that similar esoteric music, amazing sets, all set in a 2000 seat tent overlooking a huge arena for the night’ acitivities. 12 acrobats, 12 horsemen and 48 horses kept us spellbound … they all had an amazing affinity with the animals, who seemed to respond accordingly. Horse lovers will be blown away, but there’s something here for almost everyone.
