Welcome to A TOUCH OF PINK. Some wonderful new tracks this week as we await the countdown to Cher’s album release.

Our favourites this week are new tracks from Rebecca Ferguson (still that amazing voice), ReConnected (for us boyband tragics), Charlie Brown (cos he’s cute) and Laura Pausini + Kylie Minogue (because it’s Laura Pausini + Kylie Minogue!!!).

Album Of The Week is “Make Me Believe In Hope Blueprints Version” by Bright Light Bright Light. The is a re-recorded version of the wonderful album from this UK electropop artist aka Rod Thomas, featuring backing by piano only. This gives a wonderful poignancy to the tracks, and his selection of guest singers adds that certain something. Sublimely beautiful, and can sing quite well too. Below is a track from this new CD.

Special mention should also be made of the new V V Brown album “Samson + Delilah”. If you can imagine Kelis meets Robyn, then you’ll have some idea of what to expect.

What have we seen lately ?

Film : Blue Jasmine : I really like these Woody Allen movies where he’s not in them himself. He is such a good writer/director that his presence nowadays seems a distraction. Anyway, this is a wonderful study of two sisters (both adopted) and their difficulty in finding a good man. There are also some competitive issues. A superlative cast including Cate Blanchett and Sally Hawkins. Excellent.

Film : I’m So Excited : The latest Pedro Almovodar film and airplane disaster movie. The plane is filled with such a bizarre group of people, not to mention fairly camp. This probably isn’t an Oscar winning movie, but it is fun. And camp as heck. Things get desparate so the 3 male flight attendants put on a show for the passengers … you guessed it, they mime to “I’m so excited”. That alone is worth the price of admission.

Film : Sharknado : This is the b-grade movie about tonado’s over Los Angeles that suck up water and shower down sharks, which then proceed to wreck havoc on the city. Bad acting and poor special effects don’t get in the way of making this a fun 90 minutes entertainment. Enjoy it with a bucket of popcorn.
