Welcome to A TOUCH OF PINK. Hope you enjoyed the all-Aussie show last week. There are so may wonderful and very varied Aussie acts all doing great dance pop, but this week we’re back on our trip around the world from London to New York to Melbourne … we’re giving Eastern Europe a miss this week but only till we find some more great tracks. We’re particularly enjoying the new Bastille, Steve Grande, Lover Lover,  and a very cute video from Bobby Blue.

And introducing a new Melbourne singer with her first official release, Lucie M. We’ll be playing “Turn It Up” tonight.

Single Of The Week is “Of the night” by Bastille, because any excuse to re-visit DeBarge’s “Rhythm Of The Night” has got to be worthwhile.

Not officially a second single of the week, but Bright Light x 2 has just put a new track on Soundcloud and he’s such a good value artist. And he’s cute. So sue me!

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in to us this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from  7pm for 26 tracks in 2 hours (yes, we know!). Your hosts are Dennis and Dick.

What have we seen lately ?

Film : About Time : Yes the plot is wildly implausible (about the me in this particular family be able to time travel) but the relationships between the family, the father and son, the son and sister, the son and his girlfriend, are all beautifully constructed. Everybody cares about each other and what happens to them. It’s not all sunshine and lollipops, but it’s a feelgood moviefrom the producers of 4 Weddings and a Funeral so you sorta know what to expect. We all loved it. WORTH  CONSIDERING.

UK Film Festival : Good Vibrations : This is one of those british feelgood movies but about the punk movement in Belfast in the late 70’s. Based on a real story, it’s pretty good but a bit noisy for those of a nervous disposition. It concerns a pub DJ who meets a girl, gets married then opens a record store. This is all happening against a background of sectarian violence, bombs and killings etc. He eventually gets into starting a record label for some of the local punk bands, including the Undertones first record Teenage kicks. Lots of loud punk music and a tribute to the fighting spirit of the ealy punk bands. Probably more for those with a fondness for the music but a moving story. EXCElLENT. See preview below.
