Welcome to A TOUCH OF PINK. Christmas is coming and lots of new releases to fill up the stockings. New Christmas releases from Susan Boyle, and a great Christmassy film soundtrack for “The Best Man Holiday. Other significant releases come from Boy George (This Is What I Do) , James Arthur (Tribute), Zedd (Clarity, like a Calvin Harris producer/writer) and BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge 2013 (you might need to check the interwebby for that one, but it’ll be worth it if previous volumes are anything to go by).

Other great tracks tonight come from Afrojack, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, Deborah Cox, Olly Murs, Boy George, Matt Cardle and Mel C, and finally Prince has a new single out and it’s smooth and funky.

Single Of The Week is “Beg Steal Borrow” by Ayah Marar. She is a Jordanian singer now based in the UK. The song is superior catchy pop and the video is rather good too.

We are also very keen on local content, so here is this week’s pick. Wildlife by The Sound Of The Crowd.Very edgy and very New Order. Love it!.

What have we seen lately ?

Show : The Pirates Of Penzance : The last of the Production Company’s 2013 season, and a reminder of what fun Gilbert and Sullivan can be, particularly when the staging is clever, the choreography inventive (the Police Troup were hilarious), and the majority of the Pirates were very attractive and daringly attired. Another top-notch effort.Roll on 2014!

Just A Reminder : The British Film Festival starts Nov 21 …

In Show 450 I did a review of the one of the Festival films, “Good Vibrations”, a biopic of Terri Hooley, the godfather of Belfast punk, set against a backdrop of the sectarian conflict in the 70’s. The film is well worth searching out for music/punk fans, and acts as a great historical document of a period in time with the emergence of punk in the UK.

Also particularly interesting are the opening and closing films which are must see’s for me.

1.Opening film, ONE CHANCE, a biopic about Paul Potts, and it looks to be a real tearjerker.
