Show 511 / 30 May 2015
Welcome to A SPECIAL JOY RADIOTHON 2015 edition of Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the fun side of modern pop. Tonight will feature two guests hosts, the legendary Band Camper Adam Todd and the return, for one night only, of Dick’s other partner in grime, Dennis. Plus lots of new tracks tonight, from Will Young, Years and Years, Shayne Ward, Steve Grand, Take That and Little Mix, amongst others.
My Single Of The Week is “Shine” from Years and Years, a fairly new UK electropop trio with an out gay singer, Olly Alexander. The track is from their forthcoming album Communion due out on 22nd June. It’s looks like big things are in store for them.
Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-7pm for a bakers dozen of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have I seen at the theatre/multiplex lately?
Film : Pitch Perfect 2 : Possibly not quite as good as the first film, and some of the jokes landed a little flatly, but the singing was great and the commentary team were hilarious, so if you keep your expectations down a bit, you’ll enjoy this. You still end up cheering the Barden Bella’s to win over those dastardly Germans.
FILM / SHOW : The Rise and Fall O)f The City Of Mahagonny : This is a filmed version of the stage musical written by Kurt Weil and Bertold Brecht and staged by the British Royal Opera. A biting commentary of the ruthlessness of modern life, still relevant over 80 years after it was originally written. The performances were excellent and the vast staging was high tech and very impressive. Adult subject matter and not for everyone, but a brilliant production for the more adventurous.
Dick’s Top 5 Videos This Week
Empire Cast ft Jussie Smolleet (gay, see picture of 3 Empire Brothers on Show 511 banner) : Money for nothing
Steve Grand : Time (new video and a sweet story)
Nicki French : Don’t play that song again (original 2000 Eurovision version)
The Magician ft Years and Years : Sunlight (boys and girls on the beach)
Le Grind : JOYBOX (free download available)
That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
