ALERT: from 12^th December for the Summer Grid, A Touch Of Pink will move to the 4-5pm slot on Saturdays.

And welcome to A Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the fun side of modern pop.

Another mixed bag, but a bit slanted towards the retroelectropop and a few interesting covers. I particularly like Freischwimmer’s take on California Dreamin’, and there’s a couple of Almighty dance remakes. There’s new singles for Mika (see above picture) and Hurts, plus the latest instalment of Who Is Fancy? Turns out to be a great new track featuring Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande. And finally two tracks from 1986, one a new cover of Lana Pellay’s Pistol In My Pocket, then the original Lana follow-up, I Can Make A Man Out Of You. So very gay.

My Song Of The Week is “Boys like you” by Who Is Fancy. Who we now know is Jake Hagood, and American singer, with his two besties in tow. It’s such a cool funky track, perfect for summer, and a gay subtext to boot. I dare you not to like this.

For a show that is basically a collection of Jerry Herman’s songs from his shows, featuring the best in female talent, this is one of my Top 5 shows evah! What made it so good ? Perhaps the amazing 11 top ladies of musical theatre in Melbourne, perhaps the songs from Hello Dolly, Mack and Mabel, La Cage Aux Folles etc. Perhaps the witty and biting dialogue.. Or perhaps a bit of everything. But if you haven’t seen it yet, go! It finishes on the 6^th December.
