Welcome to a very Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras edition of A Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the gay fun side of trash pop.

More big gay content this week, and tracks from some of the Mardi Gras Party participants, including Conchita Wurst, Courtney Act, Deborah Cox and Dirty Pop. Plus a few other fun party tracks from Icona Pop, Elton John and the Pet Shop Boys..Plus, the show it topped and tailed with two wonderful pro Marriage Equality songs, ‘Love Is‘ from New York by Inas S and ‘This Love’ from London by Nicki French.

My Song Of The Week is “We are the night” from Steve Grand. He has a great new Dave Aude remix of my favourite track from his album, All American Boy. He is gay and good looking with a pretty impressive voice, and seems to be a really nice person too. He deserves all the success he can get, and the CD was financed by crowd funding. Good on him for his enterprise.

What have we seen around town this week ?

FILM : HAIL, CAESAR : More amusing then laugh out loud comedy about the heady days of the Hollywood Studio system where an actor is kidnapped, and the chase is on. An affectionate pastiche of movie styles and genres with some excellent performances, particularly from Tatum Channing in a Gene Kelly-type dance number (with sailors). Good fun!

FILM EVENT : TEATRO ALLA SCALA : Interesting 2+ hours documentary about La Scala opera house in Milan, it’s cast of characters ie singers, conductors, managers etc over it’s 200 year history. The film was arranged around it’s yearly seasonal opening concert on 7^th December showing backstage, rehearsals, and dressmakers, scene painters etc.

FILM : 45 : I was a bit disappointed with this film, because the trailer introduced the characters in the week leading up to their 45^th wedding anniversary, and the body of a previous girlfriend of the husband is discovered in Switzerland. Sounds intriguing, but the script left me wanting more details, then the ending was very abrupt. Great cast etc. but the slow bits could have been used to flesh out the plot a bit more.
