Welcome to a very G-A-Y episode, a real Splash Of Pink, your home site for a look at the gay fun side of trash pop, with 9 out of 14 tracks from GLBTIQ approved acts, and 5 of them home-grown aussies, too!

Tonight I’ll be playing a couple of tracks from the new Pet Shop Boys “Super” album (yes, it is! ), another track from the album of songs inspired by the “Eddie The Eagle” film, newies from Ben Hazelwood , Nervo, Frans (another cute Swede, the country not the root vegetable – see above), NYC gayboy Fiorious (see below), plus Sia, Adele and Nick Jonas (with an amazing video where his clothes appear to fly off his body)

My Song Of The Week is, naturally, “Close” by Nick Jonas featuring Tov Lo. Both artists have beautiful voices, it’s a glorious song, and the video is very sensuous without being nasty, which a lot of artists seem to confuse with talent.

What have we seen around town this week ?

Film : A Bigger Splash : Any excuse to see Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton and Matthias Schoenaerts and Dakota Johnson together in the same film. Although this makes for som uncomfortable vieing, as some of the characters are not particularly likeable, this is nevertheless a fascinating film, where a female singing star and her new partner meet up with her ex husband and his daughter (who makes a play for the singing stars partners. And the ex wants to get back together with his ex wife. Complicated, and a happy/sad ending, but excellent arthouse viewing.

Film : My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 : This is the original movie 20 years later, same jokes, same ethnic stereotypes, but it’s done with love and fun. The sort of film you either love or hate. My mum and I happened to enjoy it, but obviously not to everyone taste.

Film : Eye In The Sky : Another film with an amazing cast, the plot revolves around a drone attack on a terrorist group gathered in a safehouse in Nairobi, Kenya. It follows the decision making, the discussion of collateral damage etc, which makes for a very tight and gripping plot. Kudos to Hellen Mirren and the late Alan Rickman for superlative performances.
