A Touch of Pink

Hopefully I can keep sourcing lots of local and international GLBTIQ artists to showcase on future episodes of A Touch Of Pink: there are nine GLBTIQ artists (see Brendan Maclean above from Velvet:The Musical), plus gay Producer/Remixer Barry Harris does a great jon on Meghan Trainors new single NO.

I’ll also be playing a remix of the UK Eurovision entry from Joe and Jake (see above), a remake by Linda Martin of her 1984 Eurovision entry for Ireland, and a great electropop track from Antony & Cleopatra who feature the amazing singer Anita Blay from the band CocknBullKid.

My Song Of The Week is “Basically Over You (B.O.Y.)” by Alex Newell. He is an out and proud gay man who performed in GLEE as the transgender student Unique Adams. He has a great solo singing career and this track is from his new 5-track ‘Power’ EP. His voice reminds me of the late great Sylvester, powerful when needed, but can also be tender. This is an artist the whole GLBTIQ community should rally behind. Plus the video is really good.

What have we seen around town this week ?

Film : Batman vs Superman : I did think it was overly long at 2 ½ hours, and nobody smiled, but by half-time the action picked up and the effects were pretty good, plus Henry Cavill was great. The sort of film that you either want to see or not. Meh …

Film : The Huntsman Winter’s War : As with the previous film, you either want to see this or not. Yes, the plot was a bit convoluted, and it morphed into something slightly away from the Snow White story, but it was all good fun, with great effects, amazing costumes some really bitchy dialogue. What’s not to like.
