Welcome back to a new grid and a whole new batch of tracks with a trash / gay / remix flavour. This week we’re taking over the SASSY show, so we’ll be on-air from 5-7pm. Plus we’ve upped the gay content to the max.

My Song Of The Week is Stunt Queen from Bloc Party (see above). They are a UK bank fronted by out gay man Kele. Probably not the song you’d expect from me, but it’s got an energy and it rocks.

What have we seen around town this week ?

Movie : Fantastic Beasts and where to find them : Latest filmed written by JK Rowling, a prequel to the Harry Potter movies, about strange creatures being accidentally let loose in New York. It’s entertaining in a ‘childish’ way, meaning it’s probably more suited to kids, but the effects are excellent, so adults might get something out of it too.

Shows we saw in London, August 2016

The Go-Between : Musical of the 60’s film, beautifully written, for fans of Sondheim-esque shows.

Groundhog Day : Musical of the Bill Murray film with score from Tim Minchin. Excellent !!!!

Breakfast At Tiffany’s : Semi musical adaptation of the Truman Capote book, very clever staging and presentation. Wonderful.

The Comedy About A Bank Robbery : Successor to “The Play That Goes Wrong”, though it is more slapstick than that play, and not quite as successful, but entertaining in a corny way.

The Secret Garden : Musical of the play and book etc. Wonderfully performed, great music, but a low-key production.
