The Starletts Are Coming To Town

Welcome to another hour of A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a pop trash / remix flava and an emphasis on GLBTI content/artists. Tonight eight of the tracks have LGBTI content.

This week’s show features 10 tracks (out of 14) with GLBTI content. They’re all good to great, but I’m particularly excited by yet another amazing semi-drag act, The Starletts, plus new tracks from Bastille, CHVRCHES, Erasure, and we really needed a revamp of Deborah Cox’s classic Absolutely Not, didn’t we?

My Song Of The Week is ‘DNA’ from Years & Years. This is the first taste of their forthcoming second album, and gay lead singer Olly Alexander sounds to be in fine form. It’s a live version from the BBC 1 Sound Of 2018 Show. Well, i’m excited!

What have we seen this week ?

FILM : Phanton Thread : A sumptuous look at the world of haute couture in London 1950’s. Wonderful attention to detail for this slightly twisted romance between Daniel Day Lewis as the dressmaker, and Vicky Kris as the young lady he molds until she fights back, then all hell breaks loose. Stunning to look at if slightly too long, but there is much to enjoy.

SHOW : Hir : A Taylor Mac play, so you knows it’s going to be very pc, but this is a wide-ranging play with only 4 characters: the downtrodden wife who is discovering herself, the trans son on a similar journey of discovery, the abusive father, now tranquillised into a semi-vegetative state, and a son coming home from the war to a house filled with mayhem, not least his sister now transitioning and with a beard. It’s not always easy viewing, but sometimes we need that, and we need plays like this. The actors are all excellent. Please consider.
