A Happy New Year …
Welcome to another episode of A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a fresh pop sound and mostly GLBTI artists. I’m really loving Janelle Monae (isn’t everyone?), John Grant is also very interesting, and Silva is a wonderful singer from Brazil in the Bossa nova style.
Track Of The Week : Silva & Anitta : Fica Tudo Bem
A friend in The Netherlands alerted me to this wonderful (Silva, GLBT) artist from Brasil. The friend has a radio show called Brazilian Blend on a community radio station in Oosterhout. From there he spreads the word about Brazilian bossanova music. He has provided me with a remix of the latest single, which I’ll be playing tonight, but the original mix is very nice too. See below.
Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-7pm for a whole heap (as many as we can get through) of fun tracks. Your host will be Dick.

REVIEWS : What Have I Seen Recently?
Show : Calamity Jane : A wonderful show starring Virginia Gay as Calamity Jane, about getting a star into the small town to play at the local theatre. It’s very slapstick, and a little corny, but very enthusiastic, and well performed by the whole cast (about 8 in total). Beware of audience participation though, but it’s very funny. A must-see, if you haven’t already.
Film : Colette : The wonderful film based on 15 crucial years in the life of this French author, who married came to Paris and stated writing stories which her husband published under his own name. The film is really about how she came to discover her own voice and sexuality. A bold and beautiful film set in the Paris Belle Epoque.
Film : The Favourite : Brilliant period drama/black comedy set in early 18th century, where a frail Queen Anne occupies the throne and her (very) close friend, Lady Sarah governs the country. Then along comes a wily new servant, Abigail, who proceeds to usurp Lady Sarah in the Queen’s favour. This is a very entertaining royal bitchy comedy of manners with some great actors and gorgeous settings.
