Welcome to A Brave New Year and the same old same old Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the fun side of modern pop.

Happy New Year to youse all. Hope your celebrations were everything you hoped they would be. Now down to more important things, the music. Today we have new tracks from Jimmy Somerville, Hurts, Gladys Knight (yes, really) and The Lab Wizard.

My Song Of The Week is “Just a little” by Gladys Knight. She’s an American singing icon, now aged 71. She’s been singing since the 60’s, originally with The Pips, but mostly as a solo artist. She sings beautifully, looks amazing and can teach some of todays’s singers a thing or two.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 4-5pm for a bakers dozen of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have we seen around town this week ?

FILM : Youth : We loved this film, starring Michael Caine as an orchestra conductor, and Harvey Keitel as a film producer, who are reminiscing and ruminating over life at an expensive health spa in the Swiss Alps. The film looks and sounds amazing, but it moves at a languorous pace and is properly categorised as an art house film. The performances are wonderful, and in some cases, quite surprising (yes you Jane Fonda and Paloma Faith! ) A joy from start to finish.

Dick’s Top 5 Videos

Morgan Page : Running Wild (stunning video)

Jimmy Somerville : Strong enough (not the Cher song but definitiely 80’s retro disco)

Walk The Moon : Different colors (live)

Zara Larson : Lush Life (Swedish, nuff said)

Tori Kelly : Hollow (another amazing voice)

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
