Welcome to A Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the fun side of modern pop.

Here’s hoping the new year is good to you, because it hasn’t produced much new music, but it’ll come eventually. In the meantime, a mix up of some newish and some favourite tracks tonight. I really like Sarah Harding’s (Girls Aloud) ep Threads from last year, and it featured a great rocker Live Before I Die. Two other great talents that I hope reach the audience they deserve are Shamir (see picture above) and Grimes, and I just love Estelle’s voice featured on the new Vice single, up there with Emeli Sande.

My Song Of The Week is “Off with his shirt ” from series 2 of the American TV show Galavant, by the Cast featuring Kylie Minogue. Not that it’s such a great song, but it is Kylie and the video features her boyfriend Joshua Sasse having his shirt ripped off. What more do you want ???? Little pleasures …

What have we seen around town this week ?

FILM : Joy : Great movie featuring Jennifer Lawrence as a divorced mother looking after her parents, and her ex-husband and two kids. Overworked and underappreciated, she also invents things. Based on a true story of the woman who invented the wonder-mop, it charts her rise to success and everything in between. All sorts of twist and turns, it’s a roller coaster ride. Worth considering.

FILM : The Belier Family : We loved this film, a great one to take your Mum to see. It’s about a family (mum, dad and boy and girl) where all except the girl are deaf. The girl has to help the family in contacts with the outside world, but when it turns out she has an amazing voice and an opportunity to leave home to study, well, that’s where all the turmoil begins. It’s a very moving film, not sad, but full of emotion.
