Show 539 / 19 March 2016
Welcome to another episode of A Touch Of Pink, your home site for a look at the gay fun side of trash pop.
Another mixed bag tonight, but a leaning towards the high energy tracks. Great new tracks from Flume, New Order and Tiga, plus Years and Years ft Tov Lo, and a Tov Lo solo track. Also the Barry Harris remix (he’s a gay) of Beyonce’s Formation, and he actually makes it into a good song. Who knew there was a song lurking in the original release?
My Song Of The Week is “Future Funk” from the Nicky Romero featuring Nile Rodgers on guitar. Following on from the themes of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk, this is another catchy funky track, and a nice change of feel from most of the other pop around at the moment.
Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 4-5pm for a bakers dozen of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have we seen around town this week ?
FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL : Marguerite : Rather a sad film, loosely based on the life of Florence Jenkins Foster, a society lady with lots of money and who loved to sing for her friends, but unfortunately didn’t have a very good voice. She became a laughing stock and the end was not pretty, but it made for an interesting film.
EXHIBITION : 200 Years Of Australian Fashion @ NGV : Wonderful exhibition showing how (mainly) women’s fashion in Australia has developed. Arranged in various themes, such as a department store, gallery etc, modern etc, it was a very interesting show, though the “experimental” 70’s and 80’s clothes were a little underwhelming. Overall, worth a visit.
Dick’s Top 5 Videos
Ross Alexander : Kiss Me (it doesn’t get much camper than this!)
Tov Lo : Moments (very dark)
Flume ft Kai : Never be like you (just beautiful)
Aristofreeks ft Kathy Sledge : Get on up (recording session)
New Order : Singularity (another dark and very odd video, great song but)
That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
