This Years Stonnington Jazz Festival has provided the opportunity for Steve Sedergreen to create a brand new work inspired by Duke Ellington’s Far East Suite – reminiscing about a trip that the Duke’s band took.
Steve’s New Work is being premiered in “HERE AND NOW: The Far East Suite“, and where the Duke utilised a standard Big Band instrumentation to reflect the countries of his sojourn, Steve is featuring instruments from the areas he tours which include the Didgeridoo, Sitar, Shamisen and Kora.
Hear how Steve has created a work which takes you on a journey through Australia, Papua New Guinea, Gambia, India and Japan.
Here and Now: The Far East Suite premieres at Chapel off Chapel on Sunday May 20, 2018 as part of the Stonnington Jazz Festival
Steve Sedergreen was guest of Bent Notes on Sunday April 15, 2018
