Fem Belling decided very early in life that she needed to be seen and be part of the front line as the Solo artist!
Moving out of the Youth Orchestra was the step that Fem took towards her future career in Musical theatre and the fluid world of Jazz.
Her latest project builds upon the objective to increase the visibility of women in music with a project called Kon Shes (pronounced like conscious! but with the female term “Shes” being a hint to the project objective) which will be premiered at this years Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival on Friday December 7 at The Jazzlab.
Hear what Fem had to say about women in Jazz, and the project being “21st Century Woke Jazz straight out of Melbourne” and “Groove-based Politically Conscious Jazz”
Fem Belling took time out of what sounded like very a fun rehearsal to chat with David Moyle on Bent Notes on Sunday November 11, 2018
