West Australian Multi-Instrumentalist Gemma Farrell spoke with David Moyle about playing Jazz for the Juniors at the Perth International Jazz Festival before travelling to the east coast with her quintet playing in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
Gemma notes that kids are so curious and eager to learn and that it is so rewarding to play for children who have lots of questions, but the real question is how to encourage adults to have the same eagerness and enthusiasm for live music.
A member of eight different projects, Gemma has a busy musical life and has been running her quintet for over six years. The Quintet was a major part of re-establishing herself when she moved back to Perth after six years away. A group of instruments that Gemma likes, the quintet turns her notes on a page into Music!
Gemma performed at the Jazzlab on November 19, 2019 presented by the Melbourne Jazz Co-operative.
Gemma Farrell was guest of Bent Notes on Sunday November 10, 2019
