Sydney based Guitarist, Composer and Educator, Dave De Vries, spoke with David Moyle about his Debut Album – Short Stories.
Avant-Guarde Jazz pioneer Jimmy Giuffre was a musician who Dave was enthused with – so much so that he wrote his Thesis on Jimmy’s compositional development – something that has had an influence on Dave’s music.
The album is a collection of seven self-composed pieces – pieces that have been workshopped by Dave for some time before taking the pieces into the studio.
Dave De Vries was guest of Bent Notes on Sunday January 12, 2020
