Checkpoint Intimates is a weekly podcast where two members of the team go one-on-one on a topic that they both feel strongly about, talking in a more deeper and, yes, intimate context.

This week, Elliot and Cam discuss a game that was removed from Steam called ‘Abstractism’ that first appeared to be an indie platformer but was actually a scam that turned your computer into a crypto-mining machine. In line with this, we discuss the practice of pitching a game on a crowd-funding website and then running away with the money.

We also talk about a game called ‘Fomo3D’ that used pyramid schemes, cryptocurrency and exit scams to get players to invest large amounts of money with no pay off. The game is still running with over $28 million US already invested. The game also calls itself a scam, yet players aren’t turning away.
