Catch up on the Best of Chicks Talking Footy 2017 season this footy off-season. Number 4 in our summer series is a mashup of the incredible Hamilton Pride and Inclusion day on June 17 at Melville Oval.

The day was organised by former Monivae College student Charles Beaton (from Gay that’s OK) and former Hamilton resident and well known Melbourne blogger Annie Nolan (UncannyAnnie). A luncheon was held at Alexandra House, with guest speakers including 3 time premiership player Russell Greene, Charles Beaton and Annie Nolan.
Hamilton Kangaroos FNC teamed up with VFL Women’s clubs Melbourne University WFC and Darebin Falcons to support inclusion and equality. Hamilton Kangaroos FNC senior team wore specially designed rainbow jumpers for the clash against South Warrnambool Melbourne University and Darebin will played the first VFL Women’s match at Melville Oval, in what was a re-match of last year’s Grand Final. With up to 40 AFLW representatives between them, MUWFC and Darebin will both wore specially designed rainbow jumpers to support this initiative. By wearing the “Gay That’s OK” rainbow jumpers, all four Clubs came together to support equality and inclusion.
Football clubs have a big role to play in promoting inclusion and equality and providing positive role models for the LGBTI community. These football clubs stand together as inclusive clubs. No matter your sexuality or gender these clubs are safe places for the LGBTI community.
