He’s quite an inspiration to not only gay men and women around Australia, but also to sportspeople who are struggling with their sexuality.
Jason Ball is the only openly gay Australian Rules football player, and in addition to being a proud Melburnian (he’s from the Yarra Valley), he also has links with many different organisations – he’s an ambassador for beyondblue, he supported the NoH8 campaign recently, and has even been shown support by Neil Patrick Harris on Twitter (“Doogie Howser” if you can remember that far back).
He was also included in The Age‘s Top 100 most influential Melbournians of 2012 and was amongst The Advocate‘s Top 25 Most Notable Comings Out of 2012.
In this edition of To Hell In A Handbasket he reveals three things he doesn’t want around anymore – and be warned, some of it gets a bit personal!
