Liana Slipetsky is an active member of the Ukrainian community here in Melbourne. There are around 40,000 Ukrainians in Australia. Last year she was heavily involved in Ukrainian Community committees organising demonstrations and actions in protest of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and memorials for the shooting down of MH17. She was part of the organising team when the Australian government invited Ukraine’s president Petro Poroshenko to visit here late last year.
Along with her 2 sisters Liana runs her own real estate property management business and is a Director on the board of Directors for the Ukrainian credit co-op Dnister.
Liana travelled to Ukraine in 1991 when it had only just declared its autonomy from the Soviet Union and more recently in 2013 on which she bases her travel experiences in this podcast. Check out the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations Facebook page, or visit the Ozeukes website.
