John Martinkus is a print and television journalist renowned in Australia for his courageous reporting from conflict zones beginning in occupied East Timor in 1995.
John Martinkus is a journalist who has covered conflicts in countries such as East Timor and Iraq since 1995. In 2011, he went to Afghanistan as the official Australian war cinematographer for The Australian War Memorial.
He now lives in Hobart and has written books on the conflicts in East Timor, Iraq and Aceh. He is currently working on a book about Afghanistan.
