David & Sue talk to Paul Tesselaar from the Tesselaar Tulip Festival which has now been extended until the 15th October. This is the 62nd Tesselaar tulip festival which was started by Paul’s grandparents and is one of the longest running in the world.
Tesselaar Tulip Festival dates have been extended to October 15 due to delayed flowering of tulips as a result of the unusually cold start to spring. Enjoy Tulipmania during the final week of the Festival, October 11 -15. Indulge in the colour of the tulips and the sights and sounds with live entertainment, delicious food, activities and market stalls to enjoy right up until the very last day – you know what they say, better late than never!
Follow the yellow brick road through 25 acres of gardens and enjoy a spectacular display of more than 900,000 flowering tulips, showcasing 130 different varieties. While the tulips are undoubtedly the stars of the show, visitors will discover so much more from children’s activities, live entertainment, delicious local food, beer and wine and market stalls every day. Running over four weeks, the Tesselaar Tulip Festival opens with a burst of colour and excitement for the Turkish weekend (Sept 15 – 17).
Celebrating the origins of the tulip there will be exciting Turkish performers, music, folk dancing, belly dancers, cultural and artistic displays as well as a selection of delicious Turkish food. Rejoice in the spectrum of colour during Over the Rainbow week (Sept 18-21). Visitors can join Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion as they journey through the magical land of Oz in twice daily performances of THE Wizard of Oz.
Put a spring in your step with all day music and live entertainment during the Dutch weekend (Sept 22-24) with Tukkers Clog Dancers, live bands, tempting Dutch foods, activities, games and market stalls. Keep an eye out for some magical ruby clogs on your travels.
And thank you Paul Tesselaar from the Tulip Festival for these beautiful tulips🌷 🌷🌷🌷
