David & Sue talk to Freya McGrath & Harriet Wallace-Mead about the 24 Hour Dance Project which is on at the 2018 Melbourne Fringe Festival at Testing Ground in Southbank from 9 am on Saturday 29th September until 9 am on the 30th September. “Freya dances for 24 hours.

She does not eat, sleep or rest – unless you take her place. We invite you to join the dance; to dance with Freya, dance as Freya, to dance in groups, alone, and in a crowd!

The 24 Hour Dance Project is an immersive, participatory dance experience, a celebration and exploration of the rebellious, expressive power of dance. It is an Inhibition Liberator Machine. A celebration, a mourning, a rite of passage. Leave your insecurities and hang-ups at the door; the 24 Hour Dance Project welcomes everybody.

Inspired by the iconic dance films of the 80s, the 24 Hour Dance Project is a campy, queer, ritual dance extravaganza that invites you to go beyond your comfort zone and come home to yourself.

Get yourself a ticket, come and go throughout the project, and whether you spend five minutes or five hours with (or as) Freya on the dance floor, you won’t be the same again.

Get loose, get low, let your body do the talking, release your inhibitions — join the dance.
