“Geeks in STEM: Queer Icons, Science Heroes, and Disney Magic”

This week, we celebrate the International Day of LGBTIQA+ People in STEM!
From Alan Turing breaking WWII codes to Ben Barres’ groundbreaking neurobiology discoveries, Sara Josephine Baker saving 90,000 children in New York, and Wonder Woman co-creator Elizabeth Holloway Marston, queer contributions to science and society are monumental. Add in the modern voices like JOY’s Dr. Cat and Clayton (happy birthday, Clayton! ), and the legacy of excellence continues to thrive.
But science isn’t the only buzz this week! Fresh from D23 Brazil, Marvel and Disney dropped major updates. A sneak peek at Captain America: Brave New World teased Harrison Ford as the Red Hulk, and we got a taste of Thunderbolts with its mix of action and laughs. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man swings onto Disney+ on Jan 30, 2025, while Fantastic Four and Daredevil: Born Again have fans counting the days. Marvel truly knows how to keep the excitement alive!
Tune in as we connect the brilliance of STEM trailblazers with the ever-expanding world of pop culture. Science, superheroes, and inspiration—it’s all here!
