47. “Knowing Me, Knowing U=U” – Steve’s Story

Sydney man and friend of the show, Steve Spencer, recently spoke with the Star Observer about his experience becoming HIV-positive having used On Demand PrEP.

On Demand PrEP is a way of taking anti-HIV medication before and after sex – rather than every single day. Since Steve’s article was released – community has rallied behind him in support of his well articulated, fact-based, and informative words supporting PrEP, and fighting HIV stigma as a person now living with HIV.

Some community had questions. Some of the wider mainstream media and public opinion has been fear based, and stigma driven. Steve joins us in the studio to talk about what happened, and answer come questions directly from the community.

First, Tim and Michael give you a crash course in the efficacy of PrEP as a strategy, and how On Demand PrEP fits the equation.

Steve joins us to talk about his story, and what lies ahead now as an HIV-positive person.
