On this episode of Is Nothing Sacred, we speak with Martin Foley, Minister for Equality in the Andrews Labor Government. Also the Minister for Housing, Disability and Aging, as well as Creative Industries, he kindly spends an hour ranging over his equality agenda, what has been done and what still has to be done.
In particular we talk about the restoration of the Victorian Equal Opportunities Act to its former scope, plus the current proposal to remove the Act’s loopholes that allow religious organisations exemption from anti-discrimination law.
We also review the rapid pace of LGBTI legislative reform undertaken by the Andrews Government since its election, along with what more needs to be done.
Aired on the 15th of February, 2015.
