As part of Jacq and Dene’s Lunar New Year show, Producer Annie takes a walking tour of Melbourne’s Chinatown.
Matthew Webb is the owner and operator of Local Guide to Melbourne, a company that runs daily walking tours of Melbourne’s CBD. He’s run over 400 tours so far, for tourists and locals alike, and is super well-read on Melbourne’s history.
Producer Annie is keen to learn more about the historic Chinatown precinct that was established by Chinese migrants in the 1850s.
Despite being Chinese-Australian, Annie is surprised to find out about the meanings behind Chinatown’s laneways.
Matthew also reveals some little known facts about the Victorian goldfields – including how hard it must have been to find a partner!
