The Voice to Parliament with Todd Fernando

NAIDOC Week is a week that celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living culture on earth.

Australia’s now 122 years old constitution still doesn’t recognise our First Nations peoples, so Rach & Dean welcomed Dr Todd Fernando, who is also Victorian Commissioner for LGBTIQ+ Communities, to discuss the Referendum that’s coming up in October

As part of NAIDOC Week on Friday 7 July, the Victorian Pride Centre presents a panel discussion on the Voice to Parliament constitutional reform, and the themes of self-determination and human rights in the context of contemporary Australia.

The discussion will feature Victorian Commissioner for LGBTIQ+ Communities Dr. Todd Fernando, with Boon wurrung Senior Elder and academic, N’arweet Dr. Carolyn Briggs AM, alongside human rights and legal expert, Professor Paula Gerber (non-Indigenous).

Registrations for this event are free, and the panel discussion will be live-streamed via JOY 94.9’s Facebook page for people who are unable to participate in person.
