Wednseday Breakfast: JXCKY – Thirsty, Thriving & Rising from the Darkness

Arts, LGBTQIA+, Music, Performing Arts, Singer

Independent queer pop artist JXCKY joins JOY Breakfast to launch their fierce new single Thirsty — a dark, unapologetic anthem about survival, self-reflection, and owning your story.

After breaking out with their debut EP Thriving in Perpetual Darkness (and a show-stopping JOY Radiothon performance), JXCKY opens up about almost giving up on music altogether, their struggle with mental health, and the hope that pulled them back from the edge. They talk about life as an independent artist, receiving their first ever Creative Victoria Music Works grant, and the creative freedom that comes with calling the shots.

We also dive into the bold teaser video that saw JXCKY’s chosen family reading out the most painful things ever said to them — transforming trauma into laughter and catharsis — and get the scoop on their Gaga-inspired, jailhouse-themed music video for Thirsty (yes, Telephone vibes incoming).

Dark, honest, and empowering — this is queer artistry that refuses to stay quiet.
