JOY Breakfast goes West with Matt O’Keefe, CEO of Pride of Footscray, and comedian/MC Charlie Lewan to celebrate Pride Comedy — the monthly showcase that’s become one of Melbourne’s most loved queer comedy nights.

Matt shares how Pride of Footscray is more than a bar — it’s a performance-first, community space where comedians are paid properly (superannuation included!) and diversity isn’t a token, it’s the lineup. Charlie spills on why queer audiences are the best (and sometimes sassiest) to play for, the electric chaos of MC’ing a queer room, and why heckling from “old queens” is secretly their favourite part of the gig.

We also hear about the headliner Lou Wall returning from the UK, the joy of queer mentorship in comedy, and Charlie’s delightfully bizarre solo cabaret Frogguccini (yes, it’s about a Vatican frog).
