JOY’s 32nd Anniversary December 1st
Monday December 1st we celebrated JOY’s 32nd Anniversary, Joss and Wayne covered some of the history and achievements of joy in that time.
We first went to air on the 1st December 1993 in response to the isolation facing our communities in the face of the AIDS crisis and the lack of representation in mainstream media. Now, 32 years later, we’re still Out, Loud, Proud for our LGBTQIA+ communities, every single day.
While we don’t “celebrate a birthday” on December 1, we do commemorate the work that’s been put in to advocate for the community, and as a reminder of the goal to amplify LGBTQIA+ voices through trusted, representative media.
