Here at JOY Breakfast, we love a TV series with a diverse representation, and Dean and Dave were pretty pumped to talk about a show premiering tonight which hits diverse representation straight off the bat with humour and sass.
The SBS Original dramedy series, ‘While The Men Are Away’, tells a queer, remixed version of the Australian World War Two experience. It focusses on the women and the few men left behind and their pursuit of freedom, friendship, sex and love in dark times.
One of the co-creators of the show, Kim Wilson joined them to share the shows journey – it is pretty awesome.
All eight, thirty-minute episodes of ‘While The Men Are Away’ are available to stream for free on SBS On Demand, and double episodes will go to air on SBS, Wednesdays at 8:30pm.
