Berry Street Podcast – October 2013 (Update 7)

News

Our Berry Street podcast on JOY 94.9 has thnakfully been extended for another 6 months. This means that thanks to JOY sponsor ‘berry Street’ we will continue to inform you on upcoming events and fundraising initiatives at this foster care organisation. This month we focus on the ‘Berry Merry Christmas’ campaign.

Help Berry-Street-Logo-Newsbring the spirit of Christmas to over 2,000 children!
By donating cash or gifts to Berry Merry you can help share the spirit of Christmas with children who have never experienced the joy of opening a gift on Christmas morning.

Buy gifts or vouchers for a child

Select the number of gift tags your group would like to buy for. Berry Street will provide you with gift tags that provide the gender and age of our clients, as well as posters, an FAQ sheet and more information on Berry Street and the work we do. Your members or colleagues then simply select a tag, and purchase a gift or voucher. We will then be in contact to arrange the delivery date of gifts prior to Monday, 2nd December.

Make a donation

Can’t find the right gift, or simply don’t have time? You can make individual or group donations via the Donate Now link. Cash donations are used to purchase gifts for age groups that we are understocked for, and for any children who come into our care closer to Christmas.

Fundraise online

Step 1: Sign up using the Start Fundraising tab above
Step 2: Create a name for your fundraising page
Step 3: Set your own fundraising target
Step 4: Tell your colleagues, friends and family and watch the fundraising amount grow as people donate online

For more information click on the ‘Gift Suggestions & FAQs’ link to the left or email us atberrymerry@berrystreet.org.au.

Jonty at age 5, had a traumatic childhood.

Jonty’s father and mother (who both suffered from drug addictions) had violent upbringings and the only way they knew how to deal with their frustrations was through violence. Unfortunately, Jonty was regularly the subject of these violent outbursts.

When we met Jonty, he had never celebrated Christmas – never received a Christmas present, let alone visited Santa at a shopping centre. To this young boy, Christmas was simply another day when dad would hit him and mum would ignore him.

Thankfully, Berry Street was able to place Jonty in a safe, loving foster home.

Then Jonty was able to celebrate his first real Christmas. He woke up in a warm house with a Christmas tree, he enjoyed his first Christmas lunch and thanks to Berry Street’s Berry Merry Christmas appeal he received his first ever Christmas presents – a Ben Ten backpack, a football and a t-shirt.

This year, over 2,000 vulnerable children and young people will be supported by Berry Street over the Chrismtas period, who just like Jonty, will not receive any gifts without your support. Help us make their Christmas a Berry Merry Christmas.
