Berry Street Podcast – November 2013 (Update 8)
On this week’s Berry Street podcast, Sammy is joined by Tom Brunzell from Berry Street’s education services.
During this podcast the pair discuss the Berry Street School and the range of services that are available to students in their care, along with how they strive to provide good working conditions for staff and an ideal work learning environment for students.
Berry Street is a not-for-profit, non-government and non-church-based organisation that has been supporting Victorian families since 1877.
Who are they?
Berry Street looks after thousands of Victorian children, young people and families with the most challenging and complex needs who:
- Have been denied the most vital ingredient for human development – a good childhood;
- Cannot live safely at home because of traumatic family violence, abuse and neglect;
- Urgently require the help they need and deserve.
Why they are needed
Increasing substance use, family violence, child abuse and neglect means that a growing number of Victorian children are suffering terribly. Foster Care is urgently needed for many Victorian children who cannot live safely at home.
What makes Berry Street different?
- Berry Street never flinch from tackling the hard issues;
- They choose to work with those children, young people and their families who are hurting the most and who have the most complex needs;
- They are absolutely determined to restore hope and trust to the lives of the children in their care.
