16-year-old Billie’s life takes an unexpected turn when her single mother reveals plans to gender transition. They share the same house, but during the transition, it has been decided that Billie will move in with her father, visiting her mother once a week on every Tuesday. Trying to adjust to this abrupt change, Billie develops an intense new bond with two older schoolmates, a friendship which forms an outlet for her own discoveries of sexuality and independence.
Filmed over the course of a year, once a week, every week – only on Tuesdays – this extraordinary new Australian feature from Sophie Hyde has been selected for the 2014 Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals. Its groundbreaking filming style heightens the emotional authenticity as we witness the transformation of all characters over a one-year period. At the centre of 52 Tuesdays is Tilda Cobham-Hervey, whose performance as Billie is a revelation.
Cast and crew expected to be in attendance.
