JOY presents ‘Minus 18 Formal’ highlights for National Youth Week 2015
Each year in Melbourne and as part of National Youth Week, Minus 18 present the Same Sex Gender Diverse Formal, with 500 students attending from Melbourne, Victoria and around Australia. Now in its fifth year, this unique event provides the opportunity for same sex attracted and/or sex and gender diverse young people aged 21 years and under to attend a formal dance with a same sex partner, allies and friends in a safe and strictly drug and alcohol free environment. JOY 94.9, in partnership with Minus18 and Melbourne based youth community radio station SYN, present a highlights package from the 2015 formal, capturing the energy and excitement of this incredibly empowering youth event.
This special presentation was made possible with the support of Minus18 and to all of the fantastic participants who 
were interviewed and attended the formal. A special thank you to the wonderful volunteers from SYN and JOY 94.9 who captured the content; Bethany Atkinson-Quinton, Sam Cucchiara, Ti Butler, Ellijahna Victoria, Paul Gormley and Maddy Paulson.
This project was made possible through funding from the Department of Health and Human Services 2015 National Youth Week Grants and heard on stations around the country on the Community Radio Network.
